What is S32205?

Compared with austenitic stainless steels UNS S31603 (316L) and UNS S31703 (317L), alloy 2205 (UNS S32205) exhibits superior resistance to pitting corrosion and crevice corrosion, and possesses excellent overall corrosion resistance.

Meanwhile, it has a lower coefficient of thermal expansion and higher thermal conductivity. UNS S32205 is particularly suitable for service temperatures ranging from −50°F to +600°F. Although the alloy can also be considered for use outside this range, certain limitations apply.
