Cold heading forging is a kind of processing technology without cutting metal pressure. It is a kind of processing method which uses the plastic deformation of metal under the action of external force, and makes the metal volume redistributed and transferred by means of die, thus forming the required parts or blanks.
Characteristics of cold upsetting process
1. The mechanical properties of metal parts can be improved by cold upsetting at room temperature.
2. Cold upsetting process can increase the material interest rate. It is a pressure processing method based on plastic deformation, which can realize less cutting or no cutting. The utilization rate of general materials is more than 85%, and the highest is more than 99%.
3. It can improve the production efficiency, and the time and process of metal product deformation are relatively short, especially in the multi position forming machine, which can greatly improve the productivity.
Fasteners are mainly divided into two categories: screw fastener and non thread fastener or coupling part. The processing flow of threaded fasteners is generally composed of cutting, cold upsetting, or cold extrusion, cutting, thread processing, heat treatment, surface treatment and other production processes.
